I got my AC 30 for 25.99 @ Petsmart with the discount card.

Correct. They want you to go to the store & use the card & buy more crap while you're there! I fall for it all the time...

Again, I'm an AC fan, so take this as opinion: I have experienced a biowheel stopping & so have many others out there. Many people replace the biowheel with a bag of Biomax, just like the AC's come with.
 
AquaClear all the way.
I'll use a &^%$ sponge filter before I'll ever buy another bio-wheel. All my Penguins are sitting in various peices in the storage closet waiting for me to toss them. I've had a tiny bit better luck with Emperors but I've never had any of my AquaClear's fail me yet.

Ok, I'll bite. I keep seeing your posts about the Aqueon, so tell us why you like it. There has to be a good reason you would go public as an Aqueon fan, so now I'm interested! It's one of those cases where most of us would never even look at it in the store, just because of the brand, so what's the straight dope on Aqueons? Pouches or blocks? Bio-wheel or bag or screen? What else is special?
 
i just bought and installed the ac50 and this thing is so quiet.
