Hey everyone. Been laying low for a little bit work has been crazy busy and had a few issues with the tank right after my last post. Tank was stocked with 2 balas, 10 meeki, 2 synspilum, and 9 Buenos Aires tetras.

I think I ended up getting new tank syndrome and added to many fish at once while using the seachem stability to cycle and overloaded the system. I ended up losing all of my 1.5-2" meeki and 4 of the BA tetras within that week and shortly to the end signs of ich started with my luck so I had to dose with salt. I was pretty pissed to have lost all the meeki but I am thankful my synspilum were not harmed.

During that time I ended up at the LFS with my girlfriend just looking for some swordtails or mollies to quarantine until the tank gets back under control. They had 4 assorted sailfin mollies that I ended up liking so I grabbed them and my gf ended up talking me in to getting her a type of fish if her choice and she chose the Black Ruby Barb. To be honest I didn't like them at first glance and said they don't go with my stocking trying to keep everything close to CA as possible. But the more I looked at them they grew on me so I ended up giving in and got 8 for her. It'll keep her happy at least for when the time comes to put a ring on her. Guess I'm already practicing the Happy wife equals Happy life mantra.

Got the fish in yesterday and let them relax for the day with the lights off. Put the 24/7 mode on today so the lights go on gradually for them but I did snap a couple shots for you guys in the dim lighting

Sorry for your loss of the meeki. Sweet looking setup!
Thanks!

Still bummed about it but have to move forward. I do like the activity that these small fish are bringing the tank so at the moment I'm looking at adding the 10 meeki and not adding the pasionis. Maybe in the future I'll add the pasionis but the smaller barbs, tetras and mollies are making the tank feel more full and active which I really like currently
