330 gallon setup and sump build

Maybe the flow is too high relative to the amount of media? The media might not be getting good flow-through as a result.

Take a pic of your bio media....maybe there isnt enough.

Also post a pic of the ammonia test but test it with no prime in the system if possible.

I primed the tank yesterday when I did a water change so I'll have to wait for the 48 hours

I had all the bags on top of the filter intake and now spread them out throughout the sump so hopefully that helps

no more fish for a while. Want to get everything under control before I even think about adding anybody else. I feed once a day and only enough that it all gets eaten. Try to do small pinches at a time to make sure there is no left over waste. I am waiting on parts to redo both of my returns and create spray bars almost with three 3" locline nozzles on it. The eductors I have on the tank do not allow me to achieve the proper gph turnover since it's like shooting a laser beam out of them and not spread out. It either blows the fish to one side of the tank or sends sand everywhere. With the nozzles I hope to be able to disperse the pressure over the three sets of nozzles compared to the one

i keep testing the water and come up with the same results unfortunately. Both tap and tank water read
PH 7.8
Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10ppm

I did continue for 7 days and a little extra but I am wondering if I didn't have enough of a bioload maybe. It's a mystery to me right now. Sad to watch the fish struggle and not be able to do anything about it

Was ammonia and nitrite constistently 0?That aside sounds like you followed directions correctly for the Stability. You may have done this , but you should continue with Prime too until you are confident it's cycled. Following the BB dose doesn't guarantee the tank is cycled. It varies on tank for multiple reasons.

Edit: following the stability directions is to build the BB but it doesnt mean it is cycled in the 7 days was what I meant. My tank took 2.5 months to cycle because I had low ammonia build up. When it happened it was very suttle leading to nitrate. But has been stable since...knock knock on drift wood LOL

Ammonia has constantly been .25 since I started testing the water. That's what comes out of the tap as well. But I keep continueing to prime the tank. Today everyone looks much better and the tank looks much clearer as well from the water change yesterday. I'm just going to continue feeding and add a little extra to keep up with the cycling of the tank.

But knock on driftwood is right!

Also question for you in regards to your autosmart ATO. Mine will be fine for a few days and then all of the sudden just start beeping and the blue lights blinking. If I unplug it and plug it back in it's fine for a another few days and will just continue. The resivoir is full and nothing blocking the sensor

The ATO has a warning indicator when the pump runs 3x longer than the first run/fill from when it's turned on. This is to minimize overflow of your sump I suppose. I dont recall if that's the blue light.

There were earlier times when I was tweaking my tank/sump that caused the water level to vary in the sump. The ATO started to run longer to fill back to my designated level which triggered the beeping alarm and light.

I now always turn the ATO off during WC as a routine. When all is running again, then I turn on. Turning off and on is basically resetting. It also says to place the sensor with there are no micro bubbles, but that's never been an issue in my setup.

I hope this made sense? Anything you can think of for why the ATO would run for a longer period every few days? It's been very reliable I'd say.

its filling up a 100 gallon sump so it's probably to much water at one time. It's not like a little bit here and there probably. I'm going to assume that's the problem

Hey by chance did you buy the PVC at Lowes?
and yep I bought at Lowe's so I could close the bed of my truck without having to worry about tying it down. Didn't need a ton of it so I just got their precut sections. Worked nice in some areas only having to trim a little bit off

Get yourself ammonia alert by seachem. Will let you track ammonia much easier than testing and it also reads only ammonia that is not treated by prime. This way you can see the true danger to your fish.
