340 gallon tank on Craigslist?

I'd say I have cash in hand, let me come see the tank. take a tape with you, call him out if its smaller than advertised and tell him what youre willing to pay since it isn't the size he said. If he declines that then wait.
Sounds good, I will let him know, at the moment the other person is checking out

If the other person is already looking at it then I would say it's going to be hard for them to turn it down, even if it is a 180, at that price.

As long as you have the room for it and can still fit what else you want then I say go for it. Heck, even if it's just to put it in storage for a later project.

If it motivates you to act sooner, you could tactfully ask him to take pictures with take measure?

It would be for a later project, even if that tank is sold I have another one around 200 something gallons

So it's still for sale, as he said it's a 96 x 30 x30 and I asked him about the glass thickness, he said he does not know, for something that size what would the glass approx be 1/2"?

My 30" tall 220 is about 5/8" thick (~15mm). It is 2' shorter so I would say that if those dimensions are correct then you will want at least 5/8" glass, but 3/4" would be better.

On a side note, if those dimensions are correct and the glass is 5/8-3/4" thick then you are probably going to need about 6 guys to lift it. It will be HEAVY! It took 4 guys to move my 220 and that was a struggle.

Oh I bet, we also moved a friends 220 took 7 guys, with my newest acrylic tank just me and my father could carry it no problem

As mentioned, at that size I was estimate 5/8". Having sad that, I think there are other factors.

For rimless tanks, there are other factors such as the glass top/bottom eurobrace and/or cross braces that come into the safety factor. But not sure from tanks with the plastic trim/brace.

7 guys ? I've moved a 220 with me and the guy at the store . Wasnt a cake walk but plenty doable . His tank might need 6 guys at the most if he gets it

Was it acrylic? I know that my tank was built out of a hair under 5/8" glass (about 15mm) and it weighed around 450-500lbs, according to the manufacturer and a glass weight calculator I found online. I'm a pretty decent sized guy and my dad is a little bit bigger than I am and the two of us could lift it, but just barely, and we definitely couldn't move it around at all. We basically just picked it up to see if we could and then put it right back down because it was way too heavy for the two of us.
