Fat Homer;4584347; said:can't say i'm a big fan of stretched ear lobes on any one...especially in some cases i think people go a little too far with them stretching them out way too much... although i'm not one to criticize, since i've got my fair share of tattoos...

Some of yall are a bunch of douchbags, just cause someone does something that doesnt conform to the norm, yall act like jerks to her. GROW UP
ballinouttacntrol;4584536; said:WOW! 3 year old thread, i'm glad current active members aren't doing stuff like that. it just looks dumb....but then again, creative individuals could argue that they're just fighting the norm and bucking the trend so it's acceptable and they'll find just enough people that think it looks cool and boom, a counter culture cult is born. Sound familiar?
freeskier;4584569; said:My sister has guages (or "stretches"??), wears a mohawk, dies her hair crazy colors. So do all of her "weird" friends at MIT. Something tells me they won't have any trouble getting jobs, corporate, start-up, entrepreneurial, non-profit, whatever they please. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're the ones who are going to end up doing the hiring. Honestly, I am impressed at MIT's culture which embraces and encourages differences. Being the same isn't just boring, it's dangerous because there's no change.
I don't know why this went to 20 pages, it's like so many people have never seen thick earings before. Maybe it's because I'm eastcoast but this is old hat. Would be interested in seeing how people's responses break up by geographic location.
Bottom line is there's lots of paths to success, and everyone definition of success is different.
One question though: if its stupid to call them guages, how are you supposed to call them? Don't see why using that word would be offensive.
