I may or may not be able to get a 38 gallon tank, If I do I would like to get some sort of predator fish, I was thinking an albino senegal bichir or a green terror, any other ideas?

African butterfly fish, merciless murderer of crickets. Predatory enough for you?

Hmm, rope fish if you have the tank covered?

Get a breeding pair of regani dwarf pike cichlids, I have 1 of them and he will eat anyone small enough to fit in his mouth or take bites out of fish slightly too large

Meh, the max sizes on them are anywhere from 12 inches, 18 inches, all the way up to 3 feet. The general agreed upon max size you can see in the home aquarium is around 16 inches though.
And it's not like a 16 inch red tail catfish. These Ropefish produce much less waste and could literally tie themselves in a knot if they wanted. They could probably turn around in a 5 gallon comfortably.
Just make sure to block EVERY hole. You see that tiny little crack? No, not there... There. Yep, that tiny little .5 inch hole is enough that he can escape from. You have to make it as secure as ADX Florence, look it up.

38 gallons is not gonna be large enough for a green terror or Senegal bichir long term. Might last the Senegal a while if you get it small.
I'd recommend south American puffer. They hunt snails, interesting to watch. And LFS will usually give you free small snails, they are usually pests on plants.

Perhaps a shortbody albino senegal bichir. Albinos tend to get smaller and it's a short body so even smaller. Sounds reasonable?

Meh, a rope fish sounds ok, I don't know how predatory they'd be though, I want something that'll eat other fish, crayfish, and other stuff and I already have puffer fish too. are there any pike cichlids that'll get about 6 inches long that I could keep in there?
