380 gal needs plumbed

Don't know if you can see very well. But what I don't get is why only 1 2'' hole in each weir I get one side intake one side out take but its the 3 small 1'' holes in the front of weir's for power heads I think ,,,how to plumb with only that 2'' hole in bottom of weir wouldn't you have a few extra holes for returned water from sump to circulate on each side or can you split the 2'' into a 3 way for those 1'' holes I know I am really stupid when it comes to this stuff I should pay someone to do this for me. I got a deal on tank $900

he said it was going to be a reef tank he was pretty stoned / medicated when I picked it up. he just had surgery.. his friend in cal. built it .for him so .... said small holes were for flow ie reef
 
Well, if there were more holes in the bottom of the tank inside the weir, I would say that's an ingenious way to get more even flow distribution on the return side.
 
Actually, I think I've got it. Those 2 inch holes in the bottom are not going to be enough for the drain side of a 380 gallon reef. Assuming 10x turnover rate minimum for a reef, you would need at least 3 2 inch bulkheads. See here: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/BulkheadFloRateArt.htm

If that were my tank, I would use the two inch hole, along with some vinyl tubing and at least two check valves in-line, and create and outlet manifold. Then for the drain, vertical bean animal with 2, or 2.5 inch bulkheads. I agree that it is drilled pretty stupidly though. When life gives you lemons, you plumb that S!
 
I'm stumped...but unless there are not any other holes in the entire tank perhaps the 2" holes in each are for drains for the overflow. The only thing I can think for the 3 holes on each weir are for returns for a closed loop circulation...which explains the intent for flow. But, this would require an intake for the closed loop.
 
Ok another intent was to split the returns use at different to create flow for corals. As mentioned, went over top of the box and down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the tank might not be finished. it could be that there was more drilling to do, but the builder never got around to finish it.
