i too had a difficult time finding 3m. Found an excellent replacement, Estes Medium Broadcast. It's a paint and expoxy additive that you can buy in 50lb bags from paint stores. Oh, and it's even safe for rays!

x2...I have the Estaes ultra reef sand and that is supposed to be the same stuff just marketed for fish do more expensive. Estes salespeople will say its not the same but I hear it is...so who know...it is safe for rays tho.

I can't believe with the cost of stingrays that people can justify using questionable substrate for NO other reason then THIER own prefrence (color).

We spend hundreds, most of us thousands, on rays but are quick to save a buck on SUBSTATE? Seriously? THE cheapest element of an aquarium?

NO long term effects of this sand that has been introduced to aquariums what? A year or 2 ago? So IF I poison my liver daily for 2 years and am NOT dead then that means I will NEVER die form it?

I CAN'T be only one that thinks this is rediculous......

please tell me after saying this to me a while back, you are not going to use this...? :) Curious what changed your mind?

I use "t" grade black and love it, have used tan, and white "s" grade too, it is good stuff..

i have access to some... i know black s grade for sure.. pm me for pricing....

 It's funny you mention this.

I was actually going to BUT then I got the PM that reminded me why I wasn't going to. Not only that but I'm probobly going to be pulling out all the Estes that I have in my tank as well. No longer trust that stuff either. Nothing but 100% natural, man made manipulation free for me.

No epoxy coated sand for my rays.....

I talked to Estes and they coat their sand as well. When I explained that ray autopsies are turning up disolved coatings on sand grains the guy said their sand coatings hold up to acid. Its an autumotive grade polymer that they use. Well further discusion about the rays took place and the end result was him telling me "I'd use 100% natural sand in this case". "No, we don't sell any sand that is 100% natural"

I'm not gonna risk it. BUT on the same note I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do for sand. :(
