Just wanted to share. got my baby jags a couple hours ago. So happy they made it through the storm and didn’t die.they acclimated well in my 125 gallon. I now have these 4 jags and another that I got from petland a couple weeks ago. My plan is to grow all 4 of them out and select one to pair with my petland jag so this way if they breed the baby’s are healthier (genetic variation). Of all the jags I’ve owned I only had specimens from petland discount(convenience) which all grew up to more or less look the same, looking forward to watching these baby’s grow.

Looking good! I feel you on the petland thing, it sucks that there aren't more aquarium stores in the city. There is one on 11th ave and 37th but the mostly do nano tanks and don't have many cichlids. If you have a car and can get to Jersey we have some good stores, absolutely fish in Clifton off (take Lincoln tunnel -> 495 -> rt3) is worth the drive.

I’m out east in Long Island but I’m in the city a few times a month. In Long Island we basically just have Petco petsmart and petland with the exception of a couple Mom and pop shops that are ehh. Thanks for the info though. It’s really funny because when I took a year break from the hobby every place was selling jags and once I got back into it I couldn’t find any I had to go to 3 different petlands to get the one jag and she was the only jag with a bunch of fish in a 90 gallon, that’s what led me to order online lol. Hope I get a good male out of this bunch

Depends on water quality, tank size, food etc
With proper care they grow fast at about 1” per month.
I just got 4 one of them is about an inch and a half the other 3 are about an inch. There in a 75 gallon I'm assuming there's 3 boys and a girl only because 3 are a yellowish colour and one is black how long can I keep them in a 75 b4 they try an kill each other?the big one is already nipping at the others but lots of hiding places tho.
