right now hes in a 40 but i plan 2 get at the very least a 125

Better plan bigger then a 125g. The jardini, with proper care, will get over 24" long and not do well in a tank that is only 18" wide.

youll need at least a 6x2x2 but thats the minimum you should get a bigger tank than 6x2x2

really wow i better start saving up for that monster tank then

Keep an eye out for a second hand set up, you can often find a bargain. A 5x2x2 would be a much better option that the 18" wide 125g if money/space is an issue. IMO anything smaller than that is a waste of time, the 150g would house it for a few years at least.

I recommend start saving your money and get a bigger tank to house your jar in the future. A 40g tank is just a temporary for growing it out.
I have bichirs, gars, knifefishes, doradids, snakeheads, red tail giant gourami, datnoids, lungfishes. spiny eels, and other aros.

If you plan to add tankmates to your jar, make sure they are able to fend for itself or get a big tank and add lots of tankmates. I reccomend to build a plywood tank to save you money and you're able to build the tank size you want.

Here's my jar with a green aro.

awesome jar how old/big is it :D?

and to the OP don't be fooled into thinking you got a jar that tolerates tankmates when they are small. I've been keeping some balas and angelfish with my jar since it was 3-4" and now that it is around 7-8" it is starting to take jabs at them and chasing them :(

I agree with the plecos; you can find nice ones that are already large enough to not be lunch. I've also had sucess with oscars providing they are not overly aggressive. I currently am growing an aro in a 29 gal community tank! Sure he dispatched the white clouds ages ago and I've had to relocate some small tetras and barbs. But I keep him well fed and he's kind enough to leave everybody else alone...for now. Will be moving him into a 150 soon as I can get the base built. Good luck.

Both jar and green aro are 23" long and are both 3 years old. They been together since young at 6". The green aro is actually more aggressive than my jar. I'll add my RTG and SR soon to the tank when they get up to 18"+.

lol nice kingel hope you get an aro comm like me
