I didn't realize that. I'll have to fix that when I get home from work today. I'm not too worried about it losing the cycle bc I still have the other filter on it... but i'll surely fix it before I remove the secondary filter
 
It should not kill your cycle. From everything I have read with HMF folks have gone from 1.5-4x flow. Because I am running the HMF on 180g and doing a regular versus corner I wanted to make sure I am getting more flow through the length of the tank so I am trying to achieve the full 210gph of his large airlifts.

I guess if you have a holding tank or spare tote laying around, you can use that as a temporary home (24-48 hours) for your fish while you simply let the silicone cure for the bracing. It shouldn't take much longer than that
 
I have heard of some sealants that actually cure under water, and are aquarium safe. I do not remember what exactly they are but if you used one of those you could easily install the HMF in the running aquarium. If all else fails, buy a bunch of bubblegum. Lol
