1 pump 2 suck the water out of the tank faster than it would with gravity, the other to pump the water back up into the tank.

looks like a good i dea but i would wait till Dr. joe came in

what keeps it from overflowing....??

also it would be nice to aerate the bio media part.....

if the tank is above just use a large siphon and skip the feed pump

multiple pumps usually dont work well like that

Hi guy...

What is going to be the stocking level? (bio-load)

Sorry too small for a 5k tank, if your bio-load is anywhere I think it's going to be, doubling it would be minimum.

It is almost impossible and definitely impractical to use one pump for input and one pump for output as you will constantly be adjusting to keep them in balance.

What make you think four 1.5" overflows won't put enough water into the filter?

If your lacking space or going to be over-stocking, your filter as a biological and a large power bead filter may work ok.

Dr Joe

Is your filter going to be above the tank or below? I am building a couple for my pond and i am pumping the water up into the filter and than it will fall into the pond. And if the filter is below the tank gravity shouldn't have a problem keeping up.
