4000 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its a great idea you have there...!!!

just my 2 cents...you maybe want to do some test pieces with the resin before taking on a tank of that size...in my expierence its a bit tricky too apply...!!!

other than that get her done man...:headbang2:headbang2

Inside measurements bring the inner volume to around 3,000 gals. The volume I had before of 4,000 was on the outside.

i only have expierence with epoxy resin you can seal it with just resin but its much stronger if you use fiberglass mat and resin the biggest tank with glass in it i built was 10x4x3 and aplywood pond 10x5x4 both of these lasted over ten years and only got dismantled due to ahouse move and i really had one hell of a job getting apart afterwards epoxy resin and fiberglass is the tried and tested method with ply wood tanks .it is really hard work to do but with such a major prodject it would really be worth the effort and its such a good feeling to complete such aprodject your self:)

Well can't argue with 10 years of expirience! I guess I'll be going all out on sealing this tank. Fiberglass mat epoxy resin.:D

use fiberglass cloth and resin............

you could top coat with any color pond shield ( non toxic)

or use the epoxy to lay in the glass cloth and corner strips and then coat with pond shield.....:)

will there be a stand or will it be on the floor?

the 1700gallon shark tank in the articles section is well worth aread its probley one of the most informative articles on the net i have seen on how to fiberglass propley but use epoxy resin not polyester its much stronger and poly is not 100%waterproofand once epoxy s cured it is inert my local suppler will mix in apigment in to the resin so you can have virtual any coluor you want so there is no need to seal it with anything else if this is going to be the first time fiberglassing it would be really helpful to find some local with experience to talk you through it sorry about my limmited computer skills but it all new to me look forward to seeing this prodject getting of the ground

Tnx, I will probably put on some pond sheild for some piece of mind. Maybe just one layer, but still, not sure I trust my fiberglassing good enough not to lol. This tank will sit on the ground, if there is a stand it will not be very high. I might put some blocks underneath it every couple of feet to make it easier to move when I eventually get a bigger house. I want it off the ground just a tiny bit so that I can forklift it out in the future if need be.
tnx for all the comments and suggestions.

k just wondering. keep us updated.
