2k expense? that is about a brand new 300 gallon arcylic tank...but things are this way already so...

A couple of things:

1. make sure your stand is absolutely level in all directions, including diagonally.
2. No matter what the professional say, prepare for disaster. Know what to do, and make sure initially there won't be any electrical fires, shock danger.
3. Aquascape, I would do drift wood and a 3D background. A lot of sand is very heavy and not so good for your bottom.
4. Again prepare for disaster. May it never comes but still prepare.

I would also make sure to have a good wet/dry vac or better yet carpet cleaner. I re-siiconed my tank and every time I hear something on that corner of the house I cringe.

Yes, you can get a brand new 300 gallon acrylic from fishtanksdirect shipped free for $2099. Lots of other comparably priced tanks in that size range out there from other manufacturers as well.

The vertical glass is like anything, try to bend a 2x4 laying flat one way then rotate it 90 degrees and try again. One way is far stronger then the other and will hold allot better for strangth of flex

Somehow the "professional" snake oil salesman convinced you that that a handful of vertically placed shards of glass is perfectly safe for your fish, worth a grand, and is more cost effective than a new piece of glass....

And when it broke again... :headbang2 you gave him another grand.

I know that can't be how it really happened, but I'm looking forward to seeing it work:popcorn:

True and that is why it is the way it is, but why not have recommended a new bottom glass? Doesn't seem to add up.
