He probably NEEDED a bigger home 40yrs ago.Im sorry but that is NOT a cool story. What if it were 42yr old RTC that were 2ft long? Would any of us think that's awesome????? That story ,as made obvious by MOST of the comments left where it was posted, is miseducating people and is exactly the kind of press MFKers don't need.

Im not arguing that it needed a bigger tank 40 years ago- I dont care what type of hardy garbage fish the guy kept- pacu, a RTC, or a GG, the fact that this guy has kept this fish that long says something was done right- Are you saying youve done everything right? You havent even had a fish last 10 years- good work
what bad press are you even talking about? Is the press hounding you for the scoop on pacus? Is the paparazzi rooting through your garbage cans to see how you keep your junky RTC?

I disagree. improperly raising a fish with such poor upbringing that its body is deformed is doing nothing right.sure the fish is alive. but this is a pacu. its not a discus :)

Thanks for pointing out that a pacu is different from a discus Sherlock- But neither is your rapheal and you couldnt even hit 20 years

All it really requires in the end is luck. Many fish easily live that long and longer. Even with poor husbandry. You could lock a person in a closet and bring them just enough nutrition to get by and they might grow to 3ft tall, be deformed and make it 40yrs. So factoring out how much can be attributed to luck and how tough that species of fish is very little is left in the realm of "doing something right".Keeping a great dane in a crate for 40yrs is definitely not doing something right. It's sad.

If all thats required is luck then why do we all dump all this money into our fish, when all we really have to do is have a rabbits foot, and avoid black cats?
No, many fish do not live this long
Are you comparing a pacu, to the gimp thats in your closet that you keep alive by luck?
A great dane wont live 40 years whether it was kept in a crate by you, or it was running free owned by Mr Pacu

LMAO Bad reverend always brings a new perspective.

BOTTOM LINE US THEY WHERE DOING SOMTHING RIGHT. YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG THAT TANK ACT. IS, SO WHAT IF HE EATS 20 GOLD FISH A DAY IF THATS WHAT KEEPS HIM GOING SO BE IT. WHAT REAL PROOF DOES ANY ONE HAVE THAT GOLD FISH ARE THT BAD ANY WAY? THE FISH IS OBVIOUSLY HAPPY EVEN IF I TWAS HALF WHAT HE CLAIMED THATS STILL SAYING ALOT. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN KEEP A FISH ALIVE THAT LONG ANY WAY? NOT MANY. IT SEEMS THE PEOPLE THAT ARE BASHING THIS GUY ARE JUST JEALOUS THAT THEY CANT DO WHAT HE'S DONE EVEN WITH YOUR MULTI THOUSAND DOLLAR SET UPS

You kidding me dude? He says goldfish aren't bad as feeders...:screwy: He types in all caps? He has sense? LMAO:ROFL:
Okay, but if the fish were healthy it would be MUCH larger. It's obviously stunted due to poor diet, poor housing and poor water quality. Pacu can reach like 80 something pounds in the wild and I bet those fish are 10 years old... So if you think that fish is healthy, more power to you.

honestly i think its BS no way a pacu would live that long on 20 goldfish everyother day a piranha couldnt live on that and there more carnivorous than pacus
i agree with you Z!!! i was about to type in the same about not being true,i will believe it if scientists say it was a 40 year old Pacue...
