450 gallon stock...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Alright I was just thinking that if their was a trio the aggression would be lowered. Some one also recommended pacu but I think pacu would get to big. Right?
I guess I want to shoot for more of a SA/CA theme.

Anyone have pics of a tank around 450 that they could post to give ideas?

Search my old threads, I have a 450g with the same dimensions. Lots of pics and a few videos, but your gonna have to do some diggin.

Good luck with the trade/buy. I've Been eyeing that tank, IMO the top is a bit too open. And Jason is not tht friendly to work with. Due to the tank demonsions ( 8x2.5x3 )I do 1 silver or black aro, a few rays , some bichirs if not bichir a fire eel. Some large geos such ad the altifrons. If we are talking about the same tank, 36" tall is very tall. But the thickness of the acrylic is great at 3/4.

I'd skipp the pacu idea, those things are not vegetarians.

Keep me posted, interested to see what you end up doing.

Peace....

Alright well here is my thought on the stock.
12" oscar
3x pearsei
1x fire mouth
5-7x Geophagus Altifron
3x Moto or black rays
1x Silver Arrow
My baby 20" fire eel

How does that sound?? Would you add anything else?

The tanks foot print is 8'x2.5'x3'
Also some video of my eel!

Silver arows grow really fast and might view your Firemouth as food since Firemouths grow at a very slow rate. If you get a 8" or smaller Silver then your Oscar might bully it a bit.. but from a huge tank like that it might work.

My oscar seems very mellow. He does like to know that he's boss but as long as the other fish know that everyone is good! Thats just talking from what Ive experienced in my 150g 4'x2'x30".

I would go with 2-3 arrows. You don't have to go with silver, as the other species stay a bit smaller.

The great thing is it is your tank and the choice is all yours!...as long as your wallet can take the hit.

So is the tank 30 or 36" tall, as you have stated both?
