Multi and division equal neither come first. Proper is from left to right. Parenthesis pertain to what is inside the () not what is outside

This 48 ÷ 2 (9+3) is the same as this 48 ÷ 2 x (9+3) or this 48 ÷ 2 x 12 all equal this 288
