Haha, yeah dats have always interested me. I've heard they're real slow growers though.

Labiatus are great fish. You could probably do a pair in a 75, but I'd keep a divider handy in case things get nasty. I'd be really awesome to get some big lipped wild caught labiatus from Jeff Rapps, but that costs some serious coin!

That'd be really cool to have a ray and arowana! Who's your friend that you'd be growing the ray for?

Well, not sure if he still wants/needs one but I was planning to sell it to tanker cause he has two male motoro's atm.

Yeah, I know this thread should really be done with.
But, Now I might be getting the 120 sooner, like within a couple weeks!
I really like Chancho's, but I'd omptimally like to keep atleast two, maybe three fish.

What about say, a Chancho, some sort of pike(probably Xingu I) and maybe an Oscar?
And possibly an L330 plec.

Any other ideas on stocking this tank cichlid wise? I dont want anything that's going to outgrow the tank, but I would consider it if it is something that grows slow so that I could keep it for atleast 2 years.

If your going to grow out a ray or a jardini then i would do just those or mabye some dats and a ray jardini can snap and turn very territorial even rays aren't totally safe keep in mind the main reason people can't keep rays healthy is cause they over estimate the stocking limt of there tank rays need very good water quality and are a HUgE boi load so i would go for a ray and a cichlid mabye 2 you could get away with a trio of dats cause they grow slow but you would need to do large water changes

Chancho get pretty big so they may out grow your tank and can get pretty aggressive like most but not all amphilophus you could go for a pike Xingu could work fine and can be found pretty eazy an oscar a pleco and another cichlid just fine for life if you have good filtration i would go for fish like Amphilphus robertsoni , red bay snook (try to get a female male bay snooks get big like 18'') jack dempsey

Or you could go for a single FH or single or pair of red devils jaguar cichlids would like a bigger tank but you could get away with one a pair is risky and i wouldn't recomond a pair of jaguars even if grown up from 2''-3'' they can still turn on each other they would need to be a we'll bonded pair these wouldn't be to good of an idea if your growing out a ray

Well, I'm probably not going to grow out a ray or arowana.
I just want some interesting cichlids that would work well in this tank.
Snooks are pretty cool.
The Oscar doesnt have to stay, but I'd just like to have one, will most likely be a platinum oscar.:headbang2:

The only fish that i know for sure will be in the tank is the L330

That tank is wide enough to put most cichlids in... At least for a couple years or more...If you're gonna to aro's you'll want longer for sure... Get a breeding pair of something for it...Breeding's always cool.

Yeah.
I just cant figure out waht to get a breeding pair of.
I'd like a trimac, but really, in a 4' tank.
Wish it was big enough for a pbass or two!
I was thinking if getting a female Red terror, still dont know what to put with that though.
I like Umbi's but still, 4' length really limits the fish.

It's just too flippin' hard too choose.

Ok, here are the cichlids I remember from A Place For Pets.

Herichthys carpintis "Escondido"
H. labridens
H. pantostictus
Amphilophus altifrons
A. nourissati
A. robertsoni
A. rostratus
A. trimaculatum
Chuco intermedium
C. godmanni
Cryptoheros panamensis
C. sp. 'Honduras Red Point'
exCichlasoma festae
exC. grammodes
exC. pearsei
Hypsophrys nicaraguensis
Nandopsis haitiensis
N. tetracanthus
Neetroplus nematopus
Parachromis dovii
P. friedrichsthalii
Paraneetroplus bulleri
P. gibbiceps
Paratheraps fenestratus
P. melanurus
P. synspilium (I saw a shot bodied in with them, $4.99)
Rocio octofasciata (gold and Electric Blue)
Theraps wesseli
Tomocichla asfraci
Vieja argentea
V. regani
V. heterospila
V. maculicauda

Blue would indicate you could keep a few with other Blue colored species. Maybe even a breeding pair with other fish. Yellow would indicate a single breeding pair or 2-4 single specimens also from Yellow or possibly Blue. Red I'd avoid or do a single specimen due to size or aggression, or both.

These are just rough guidelines I threw together here quickly.

I'd personally go for a few of the yellow fish like a P. bulleri, T. asfraci, and a V. argentea or somesuch. Maybe start with 6-8 and have them grow out and keep the ones that get along.

Now that.
Helps ALOT!
You rule Modest Man
:headbang2:

I'm thinking of trying, female festae, male friedrichsthalii, and a male Vieja Argentea.
Sound good?

Several (most) of these fish I've not personally kept. Lots are quite rare in the hobby. It's just some rough guidelines. Most just depends on the personality of the fish and what sex you'd pick up.

If you want to do Pbass you could throw a couple in there and they'd be fine for awhile. The 2ft width really helps you.. eventually you'd want a bigger tank but for right now they'd be cool. Just get a couple small ones and watch them grow into MONSTERS !!!!
