4'x3'x17" all acrylic build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the info and specs, much appreciated. I usually run a 1/4" upspiral for acrylic so im glad to know its close to what ur using. I dont do much volume yet so every run for me is still a learning experience.

Ditch the 1/4" bit. Go with a 1/2" minimum diameter. I know every CNC is different but if you have the ability to do it I would. I also forgot speeds. Being the router I run is around 15 years old speeds are much different. I am running this bit at 8000 rpm and a feed speed of about 12' a minute. Not the fastest but when I don't have to do any work cleaning edges I can't complain.

Diggin the top piece and cutout placement...top notch for sure. Ive used 1/2" bits before so i have the collets. Ill get a upspiral in 1/2" and give it a go, all ur work looks extremly clean. Thanks again for the tips. Ill also try slowing down my rpm's a bit im not far off. If i push my machine past 12,000rpm my power inverter trips the breaker lol...building can bearly handle the cnc, vacuum pump, and dust collector all at once.

Checked with the saw guy. The bits are made in house at his shop. 34.00 for a 1/4" and 50.00 for the 1/2" like pictured. Nice prices for bits that work. If you want to try him out PM me and we will figure it out.
It's about time I was able to help you out with all the help you have given me.:D

Any other info needed you have my number.:D

Bob what type of glue/solvent did you end up using to glue it all up? Looks great. On a side note, a few months back we were talking about the width of the bonding gap 4-6mm for really thick material, some were surprised at the thickness of the gap. 40/42 was used to bond the display panels together for this tank. Pictured is the gap of the dried cement sanded smooth and polished, sorry it's not more clear. Once again your tank looks really good, great work.

I ended up using an acrylic glue that I picked up from McMaster-Carr being that I work 5 minutes from the place. They no longer carry Weld-On products but instead have SciGrip. Similar product if not the same. Used 4 and 16 since the joints were so nice.

I actually ran out of 16 for the sump so am heading there today to pickup more.:D

Well the tank is going on half a year old in a couple of weeks and it is still holding together. Feeling pretty confident in my work on this thing. Ended up turning my dining room into my daughters playroom. She is constantly staring up at this tank with all the activity. Thanks to all those who helped with my questions.
