5 ft round pond

Well since it is round, I would say yes, but if it had been a 5x5 tank i would probably have said no. Just make sure theres plenty of swimming room, AND THE COVER!

Why would a 5' round pond be better then a 5' x 5' tank? The 5' x 5' tank is bigger Wouldn't bigger be better?

like circle round? or if i put a dot in the middle of the circle and its gonna have 4 right angles round? im gonna say no.
this is my opinion
cause its gonna be only 5 ft at its wides
silvers get at least 30inch+
it wont give him enough swimming room
since its round the only place he can cruise is in the middle
if it was a a 5ft by 5ft rectangle pond you can measure it from mold to molding and it gonna be 5 ft. but if you measure certain parts of a circle pond some parts are gonna be smaller.
which might make certain parts of the pond more difficult for him to turn around because its at a curver rather than straight.

I like the diagram, hopefully most will understand it. I came up with a similar thing which made me decide the 6' x 4' tank I had was not going to provide ample swimming space.

I've seen massive koi in ponds like that, add current to the outside so the water spins. The fish will swim with it or against it. I don't see the problem.

I am inclined to say that this would be an acceptable set up for a silver arowana. However a perimeter must be set up for their jumping tendencies which can be considerable.

except silver aros come from calm waters and im pretty sure constant swimming will cause stress.

It'll be a good home for a couple of years, but ultimately the fish will need something bigger. As the diagram shows, a 5' circle isn't much space for a 30" fish...

Why do people recommend power heads to encourage them to swim more.

A round pond is the best it seems. I would rather a smaller round pond than a bigger rectangular one. I believe the fish appreciate the fact that they don't have to turn around.

With regards to current. I believe the most effective would be a current on a certain portion of the pond. I've put a sizable bulk head in my 1k pond and my two giant SA seem to go to it occassionally. Whereas my ID sharks love to hang out in front of it virtually every time they pass by.
