red devil?

A 3' tank is not a suitable home for either of these fish as adults...

I believe you would be much happier keeping a few smaller fish in your tank than one bigger fish...

There are a couple species of Geos you could pick one species of and keep a trio of...

You could keep a pair of Apistos & a pair of Rams... possibly even a small group of Bolivian Rams... along with a group of Tetras or the like...

Senegal bichir ?
Needlenose ?
I like the exodons idea.

does anyone know if green terrors will work? with jack Dempsey. (like maybe two GT and one JD)
also if not that than couple convicts and couple firemouths?

That would work fine.

You could also look into Firemouths and salvini's

My gt's enjoy fine gravel over sand. But in the wild they would have a sandy bottom. Up to you really.
Driftwood is good and rocks, but i wouldn't recommend having real plants in with em, as they would eat them and tear them up if they get the chance.
Make sure you have some good caves for the gt's, cause in the wild they will hide in a cave or under roots etc. and wait for prey to swim by.
Oh, and, use dimmed lights, or possibly a red tintet one with a normal bright light in one end of the tank, so it would appear as a "clearing" and they would feel as if they are in shade or cover in the other end - Plus it brings out some nice color in them
