Yeah sorry :-) they don't like bright lights.

English isn't my first language
nothing was wrong about the sentence. just couldn't figure it out at first.
would it be okay for a pot to be a cave? idk if i ave dimmed lights...

You could keep a red devil in there if it was the only fish. Flowerhorn might get a little too big though. I kept a gt with some giant danios and it worked well. He would pick some off every now and then but they are pretty fast and if it is kept fed he would ignore them. Jd would also work. You could also do a trio of peacocks with a synodontis cat and some kind of the smaller plecos.

Actually i don't think a pot would work, cause the fish tend to dislike having no escape route.

You could try it though, no fish are the same :D

All the idiotic suggestions make me want to punch myself in the face

for a 55 gallon most go with africans for the color and ability to go with the overstocking and get a decent amount in there , some go with mini / dwarf cichlids , one big sa rose queen or flower horn , or an oscar , me personally id grab like 5 red belli piranhas if they arent illegal in yur state they will hang out and not fight, other ps will not stand tank mates but the red bellies a re a shoaling fish ,, if not get one beautifull big sa like a manguense spelling eh or dovii ,, the other way peopel make a 55 gallon salt clown fish tank .. which looks pretty sexy witht the rocks. Clownfish and anemone look great

I completely understand where you are coming from...

His point is you are receiving tons of horrible suggestions here and I completely agree...

Suggesting a Red Devil might work but a Flowerhorn wouldn't is completely ignorant. Both fish have the same potential for adult size as well as aggression. Flowhorns are hybrids between Red Devils and very similarly sized fish...

To all of you who are eager to make suggestions but lack the investment to read the whole thread, this is a 3' tank. A 3' tank is NOT large enough to house a Green Terror nor a Jack Dempsey properly as an adult.

I really saddens me how often pioor advice is thrown around MFK and how often it goes unchecked. This shows me that there are far more inexpereinced people on this site than experienced... and those with to luittle experience are to eager tyo make suggestinos...
