I wanted a grow out tank for my pbass and other fish, so I decided to build a frame with a pond liner. Its 72x72x24, roughly 500 gallons. I'm still working on what kind of filter to use and how much insulation. Keeping it heated to 80 degrees is gonna be a pain but I have several heaters I can use. I'll also put a plastic lid on the top to keep down the evaporation rate. Here's a few pics of the build...not quite done just like all my other projects lol. The last couple pics are of my tempoarary pond...Its pretty ghetto, but it gets the job done! Any suggestions on filtration?

Sump.

kevan, you'll have to come check out my pond.
i have a few ideas for you ... but i would say you should do a waterfall / gravity filter
give me a call and you can come check it out

and i have a 1000 gph pump if you're interested

yea i wanted to come out and see the pond. What all do you have in it? Let me know when you have time...im only like 10 min away. And how much for the pump?

For Insulation ideas look at my build....

My basement is 75 degrees right now. With no heaters on the temp went from 77 when I filled it to 81 right now just from the heat of the pump. I expect that it won't be so bad to keep the temps high in the winter with all the insulation I used.

nice! i like the idea of insulation in between the studs. I already have the foam type that youre using on the interior side of your pond. I also planned on using plastic for the top. I'd like to get it up and running soon....i'll put more pics on when i do more work.

It looks good so far, my only advice would to be to put your heaters in some pvc pipe tubing instead of a tank inside the pool.
