My 8'x4x28" 500g tank is made and will be ready from pickup next week :headbang2:headbang2.
I am interested in advice on the number of people needed to move such a tank.
I was thinking 8 strong people should be enough but I have never done this before.
I know many of you MFK in the USA have moved and dealt with moving monster glass aqauriums around so I need your advice.
The distance the tank needs to moved isn't great, maybe 25m but safety is a concern when people are offering you their help obviously.

Also I am thinking of what to do about the background of the tank.
Is painting the tank a good option??

I have quite a few painted tanks. I like the painted look. I generally pick blue. How many people I couldn't say. I've never moved anything that large made of glass before.

get yourself some of the glass suction cups and then you should be able to have six people pick it up an move it just make sure the cup is adhered solidly

regards to back ground yeh a painted back would loook good

I have a black painted tank and I like the look. If I were getting a deep tank like yours I would go with a DIY background. I love the way they look but didn't want to lose 4" in my 18" deep tanks. My next tank will be at least 24" and I'll be going with a DIY background.

I looked into suction cups and most were rated to carry only about 35kg the best I could find was 75kg but I don't want to buy them as the are very expensive.
The tank is 350+kg so I am not sur the will hold the weight.

I painted one of my smaller tanks background black, I have since painted all of my tank backgrounds black.

Do you just paint them or spray paint them?
What about a backing to stop light coming through.

Painted or fake background is a personal choice IMO

I used regular latex paint as I wanted the option to easily remove it if I ever wanted something different.

Great advice.

Now is there anyone who can advise on the moving of the actual tank??
