it wasnt to bad lifting and lowering it, but we took very few steps with the tank. 25 m is not a short distance with that much weight. 8 guys is too many hands and feet, but 6 would struggle to carry it 25 m.
if it were me i'd use dollys. ifyou cant use dollys i would plan to use 6-8 guys to move it just a few meters at a time with dunnage set up ahead of time to put the tank on easily. most importantly, be sure to pick up beer ahead of time and make sure its cold. and if you order a pizza dont leave it unattended in a place where the dog can get it........
Great advice guys, I am going to get some moving dollys and eight guys.
Short lifts seem to be better than actually moving with the weight of the tank.
I going to look into a pallet lift also but dollys are easier to transport to my house.
dolly's are the way to go, we just moved a 400g glass tank with 6 people. other than rolling the tank onto the dolly and rolling it off, i doubt we could of picked it up safely without injury.
this is what it looked like move day for my big custom glass tank. it's roughly 11' long with the angle in the tank. and 36" wide. it took about 12-16 guys to move. I'm not sure the acctual (sp) now but it was at least 12. but I also don't have a lot of BIG friends.
