500litre tank what's perfect predator fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are they not just jewel chiclids not very aggressive and predatory in my eyes but I dunno never kept them

Lol Google 5 star general fish .... Aka 5 spot jewel highly aggressive and predatory

Okay they are pretty aggressive iv been offers 2 adult oscars for free what do you think of them with catfish

They will work with the cat but no one on here will condone an Oscar in a 4ft tank if I'm honest.
They can surpass 14" and are very messy.
One is doable with hefty water changes but a better choice would be a green terror or green Texas imo, usually maximum size of 10".

Sorry, well that's a bit better mate, still two Oscars will be tight in there. I guess you could do one sensibly then but two will quickly look cramped imo.
Nemurus and 1 Oscar will work.
Better stock imho would be;
(Amazon)
Pair of green terrors
Ornate pim catfish (similar size to nemurus but From the Amazon)
6 spotted silver dollars
Gold spot pleco

Another option; (Asian)
Nemurus catfish
Pink kissing gourami (10-12" max size)
6 true spanner barbs (7" max size awesome chunky pitball style barbs)

Another option African
Dwarf giraffe catfish
Tanganikan spiney eel
Delhezi birchir
Shoal of 15 red juwels or a oreochromis tanganicae

Just introduced a parrot cichlid into the tank and all seem to be getting on a little bit of chasing from the oscar but no aggression as of yet

The required water parameters for Oscar and Malawi are polar opposites, not a good combination there sorry.
Blood parrots are hybrids so don't really fit in anywhere except with their own kind if I'm honest.
Your falling into the trap many people do of mixing anything that takes your fancy, that rarely ends up in a quality stocking.
