50gl tank lf advice and wtb fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
also make sure your getting the extra food and poop on the top of your gravel or substrate. don't vacuum all the way to the bottom just the top half inch or so. that will bring the nitrate down

I tried that and it didn't work...it hardly went down even after the 25% change :( Thanks so much for the info! will post pics of the bottom feeders in a few min...

Please, please, please look up the adult sizes & minimum tank size requirements of all your fish! Don't consider a single more fish for that tank & forget about a puffer. They are best in species only tanks & do not play well with others.

Start doing more, larger water changes & keep your nitrate <20 if you can. Use Prime to dechlorinate.

We have two of the tiny orange and black bottom feeders...just couldn't find the other one...we sold the ugly striped looking one (its getting picked up on Monday along with the frontosa) and the last pic is the catfish (any ideas on how big it will get?)

We had the parrot fish from our previous 10 gallon tank...will def be getting rid of it I think.

This is the frontosa that we just sold :( Im so sad. and the Acei is my absolute favorite (aside from the dempsey) and he eats right out of my hand! awesome, awesome fish. we want a couple of electric blues....have been looking for a while and finally found a breeder...so excited! So, after monday we will have the acei, dempsey, catfish, two very small bottom feeders....how many more small fish do you think we can add in the 50 gallon tank? small meaning max 4 inches....

Our tank is very chill...no one is very aggressive at all (except the parrot fish lol) Need some recomendations for some gorgeous, not too aggressive cichlids that maybe we haven't thought of or seen yet...

East_bay,
What kind of fish is that in your pics??? very nice tank...how big? thanks for the advice about the sand...if we decide to do that...won't we have to gradually change it? just so that we dont kill any good bacteria? What do you look for when determining the sex of the dempsey...im just curious...

also...the ph is only high because the fish store made me buy a cichlid buffer to raise it bc they said it was too low for the frontosa (they also said the dempsey would be fine and would adjust to the change). I have the alkeline regulator to lower it back to 7.1-7.6....

Kribensis are nice.
