  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
go to super way i go every wensday and thursday when the new stock comes in right now he had a fie fang or flagtail big for like $60 it was nice

My favorite store in the SF Bay Area is Hung Ming in Daly City. Great selection of central american cichlids (although the store is expensive). King Aquarium in San Jose is pretty decent, and Aquatic Life Forms (in Sunnyvale) has excellent service and occasionally has some cool cichlids.

Superway (in Hayward), Family Pets (in Fremont), and Aquarium Concepts (now in Dublin, but I haven't been to the new store) are also worth checking out. 6th Avenue in SF is also cool to check out if you're in that area.

Bay Area-510,
is that place in Hayward?

510 is the entire east bay. 415 would be the city. I could have just put bay area but there are alot of bay area's in the world!

Has anybody been to Aqua Forest Aquarium in the city? I would love to do a planted tank and or start on some live plants.

I haven't gone yet but I can't wait, it will probably be more of a field trip for now I'm sure its expensive!

i put mi name as bayarea_510 cuz i live in the bay area but 510 is my area code, and yes superway is in HAyward

I know 510 is the area code in the Bay Area. Grew up there myself! Now I'm in the 925.
I guess I should have clarified: I was wondering if that Superway FS was in Hayward, which I now know is! :D

I just got back from 6th ave and what a selection! They have everything from tiger barbs to dwarf puffers to discus to every type of eel and birchir you can imagine. Some of the rarer fish I saw were Jaridini, Fahaka Puffer, and a Hairy Puffer. If saltwater is your thing they have a very nice selection including a blue ring ray, some kind of crazy saltwater catfish, octopus and tons of invert.

My only problem here is the tiny tanks these fish are kept in. The fahaka for instance was probably 5" and was in an 8x8x8 container. Another thing is all of their tanks share a filtration system and most of the stock looked fairly faint colorwise and very stressed. Very interesting store with rock bottom prices and a huge selection.

Yeah, 6th Ave. is definitely an experience. Good selection, tiny tanks, and catch the fish yourself.

I wouldn't want to be on the second level in an earthquake. It always struck me as crazily unsafe upstairs.
