This has come out amazing. I am truly impressed. If you had not said you had never built anything before i don't think any one would ever know. awesome tank.

What species is that? Are they aggressive? Lol love the tank! What are you using for heating? Where did you get the fiberglass cloth?

Its a parastic species, they bleed you dry!
Belive it or not I am only using 1 300w heater and the tank is staying put at 78.5 degrees. I added cheap homemade lids that act as a double pane window of sorts, has 2 layers of plastic with a air layer between that seems to be acting as a insulating layer. It's doing a tremendous job keeping the heat in, besides the fact that the wood is a good insulator as well. I will try to remember to post some pics tonight when I get home. The fiberglass cloth came from US Composites, the stuff was great as I had never worked with fiberglass before I couldn't of been happier with it.
ok, tank is officially 100% done. Finished the rockwork between the trim and the tank and got the lids on. Last couple pics till I can find some fish that I want

I tried to do a very rough guesstimate breakdown back on page 7, but it's roughly a little over $1100 total with sand.
Have you thought about the clear corrugated plastic that they use for roofs for your cover? You can get them super cheap at Lowes.
Thats actually what I was planning on using but neither local home depot or lowes had any for whatever reason. So I put my brain to use and that's all I could come up with, but tbh it's working FAR better than expected so I may not buy the corrugated plastic when they get it back in stock.
