55 gallon need some ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd get dwarf cichlids. Curviceps are very underrated, pretty dwarves that are pretty cheap. Zebra plecos are insanely expensive, usually $400 per fish. I'd go with the bristlenose plecos for now. Here's what I suggest

Cories: 6-10
Bristlenose: 2
Dwarf cichlids: 2 (1 male, 1 female)
Penguin tetras: 6

very nice im just not much into cichlids

im thinking about the needle noses they would cover the top of the tank.

im pretty much done with stocking it. i might get 2 banjo catfish since they only get 6 inches

Bichirs are predatory, they will eat smaller fish so keep this in mind. You got too many bottom dwellers as is, I dont think 2 bcihirs and a brown knife will exist in that tank long term.

Since you dont like cichlids, how about African butterly fish, or SA leaf fish? get like 2-3 of them

yes i have decieded to not get the banjo although they are cool at present i dont have space i think the bicher and knife should do fine i make sure they get enough food.i was thinking few leaf or a few hatchet fish.

For your top I'd say a freshwater butterflyfish, but it doesn't move much and doesn't take up much of the top space. I'd say you should get some nice killies.

For the middle, if you don't want to go with cichlids I would recommend some of the larger tetras or barbs (2"-3"). Anything that's too big to fit in your senegalus' mouth.

Also I hear that it's very hard to get leaf fish to eat anything but live food.

live isnt a problem i got 2 archers for free i traded in 2 very large plecos that came with it each about a foot long.

the tank is done i will take a picture ones i get all my levels right im useing instant cycles and denitraters. the only other thing im getting is one bichir. i only have on i want 2 so its bichir x2 african knife x 1 archerfish x2 and thats all.

does sand when new cause the test to come up as hard? im getting a very hard reading. im guessing its the sand cause my other tanks arnt hard...:headbang2
