55 gallon predator tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know you want "monsters" but a community tank could be cool.. Cory catfish, lightly planted, angel fish, tetras?

I saw some people also house electric catfish in a 55 for while, then would need to be upgraded
I already have a few community tanks, a 15gal and a 29 gal, so I'm looking for something else. I just don't want another community tank.

The only large puffers that are active are the Fahaka (needs 180G+ Min) & MBU (needs imo 600G+ min)

So neither puffer is suitable for a grow out, unless you already have said final home in place and ready to go...
So a juvenile fahaka wouldn't be able to live in a 55gal for a year ish until I can afford a bigger tank?

To be perfectly honest and blunt with you, predatory and 55 gallon really don't go together.

Others have mentioned a specific type of wolf fish that would work as a single for life fish in the tank, other then that you really don't have much for options unless you start out with a larger tank.

If a 55 gallon is the only way you can go right now perhaps look at other options.

I might be able to trade with a friend for his 75 but would that really make a difference in what I could keep?

And are they predatory and aggressive?
They are predatory, they are fairly docile though. They get 6-7" most of the time and 2 could probably cohabit.

African butterfly fish could also go in, but they don't move much

There are very few truly predatory fish for tanks smaller than 125 gallons.
