Couple of upper jaws would be ok in a 55g or 75g.

Any suggestions on what species Bc I love the look of bichirs and think that's what I'm going to go with.would a few or area be happy in that size tank or should I go with another species. A bichir seems to be the type of predator that I want while still being a beautiful fish!

How big do African bush fish get?
Mine is around 7"
And are they predatory and aggressive?
they are predatory, aggressiveness depends on what you are feeding them. They chase live feeders pretty quickly, but otherwise pellets and tilapia they just inhale and go back to chilling out.

2 sens would be fine in a 75, 55 is pushing it in my book. My two sens were 8-9 inches, 55 gallon is 12 inches wide, that's cutting it close. Polys aren't active, you aren't getting an active predator in a 55 or 75. fish that small tend to stay still until its time to eat, considering naturally they are whats being eaten in a lot of cases.

I'm also thinking of maybe a pair of long finned senegals. Would that be fine?
That'll be ok. They'll be at 6inches for a long time while. Will likely be CB so won't get to 12. Like predkeep already mentioned. Some good advice there. 2 would be fine in there but not more than that.
