A midas would outgrow a 55. A grammodes, on the other hand, would do well for life....and is more predatory anyway!
Or needlefish, senegal bichirs are cool but aren't quite the super predators though they will pick fish off .henrysusername;3685896; said:

A large male would be about 10"; females 6-7" or so.
No forget the other planted crap and get a Green terror. A 55g is a great size because GT's tend to stay around 8-10" when the tank is 13 wide. Good filtration is 2 aquaclear 110s, they are very powerful. The green terrors are very messy with food and have a super fast metabolism, so i would get about 10 giant danios so they can eat the extra food and the extremely powerful filters will suck up the fish waste. The Giant danios are too big and fast for the GT to eat. Becareful though because lately my Danios have been attempting a "nemo" by jumping into the filter. Good luck
