***55 gallon set-up***

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would just like to note that some people on here (seems mostly newer guys) are getting vicious about tank size. Has no one ever heard of a grow out? Look, I can keep a baby Oscar in a 10 for a while. It seems like some of the guys here just want to belittle and discourage others from participating. Do you really want to kill the hobby that way? If some one has plains (with in reason) why are all of you jumping on the “you can’t do that” bandwagon. Kills me more than anything else when some one comes for advice and everyone just beats them down and possibly out of the hobby. Counterproductive at best, asinine at worst. There is a right way and a wrong way to give advice. Too many people are doing it the wrong way.

What's wrong with waiting a month untill he has the bigger tank to start over loading a fish? All to many times people buy fish and never upgrade but plan to do it soon

I assume your talking to me about being new. First off I'm entitled to my decision as so are you.... And just because I'm new to a forum doesn't mean Im new to the hobby.

I'm not addressing anyone specifically. It is just people telling others they can't do things. If someone tells me they will upgrade (I know many do not), I take their word for it. It was not a comment toward you, but let us give the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise we are encouraging people to drop the hobby, not ask for help, or continue to be unformed. Just let us give advice for improvement, otherwise we are encouraging people to go on doing things wrong because they are afraid to ask for help and/or are unformed. I've done a lot of grow outs. We must assume people will do their best for the hobby and themselves; hopefully that is why they are here. We are a minority and by being here hopefully they want to do things right in time. Hopefully I did not offend you, that is not my intent. I just want to remain constructive.
