I don't know if it's the angle the picture was taken from or what, but the water level looks incredibley uneven. I would even that out to prevent possible cracks/leaks in the future.

it's not as bad as it in the picture, but its about 1/4 inch un even.

Also i would rather have multiple fish.

possibly upgradeing to a 100 tank in about a year or so. ether that or a 125

a wolf fish! you could keep that in a 55 for a longggg time!
then eventually upgrade to a 100

Some ideas:

Senegal Bichir
Delhezi Bichir
African Knifefish
Angelfish
Maybe a trio of Silver Dollars
Elephant Nose
Ctenopoma acutirostre
Pictus Cats
Striped Raphael
A shoal of cory cats
Any other catfish 10 inches or smaller

Here's a stocking that could work from the list:
1 x Elephant Nose
1 x African Knife
1 x Senegal Bichir or Delhezi Bichir
3 x Silver Dollars

good observation

Hmm red-bellys grow to 40cm not a good choice...Maybe go for a semi-agressive community? With BGK,Tire track eel,South american leaf fish,Leoperd cnetopma right maybe not all of those but you get my point right? They all look nice ect. Most stay under £20 ($30?) and none are shoaling =]] and maybe some thomassi juwel cichlids for the bottom.A Planted tank with:
1 x BGK
6 x Leopard Cnetompma (Spelling?)
4 x South AMerican Leaves
1 x Tire Track Or A Fire eel if you upgrade
4 x Thomassi juwel cichlids

Thats probally overstocked but i'm no good at these things..
