it depends length wise is 55 gallons and width wise is 40 gallon breeder for sure..

Thanks for all your opinions, I think for now I will go with the 40 breeder and maybe next time the sale comes around, get a 55. As for lighting, I may use three normal bulbs in a custom hood or use a cheap 30 inch shop light. I know it will leave 6 inches unlit but if I suspend in a couple inches up it should light it nicely.

They should be 648sq.ft. and 615.2sq.ft. .......... The 40B is 36 x 18, the 55 is 48.25 x 12.75 (although those are external dimensions, so it still isn't going to be exact).
Oops, not sure how I didn't notice it before, but I meant "sq. in." not "sq. ft.".

No problem, just picked up a 40 breeder. Now to build a stand. What i the average height. Im thinking wither 24 or 30 inches. And 4 feet long for the 10 gallon too.

Depends will the tank be viewed more from a sitting or standing position? The ten gallon will be sitting sideways on the stand?

Yeah, I only use it to winter a couple small comets for my pond, I may build it a custom stand too. It will be viewed from standing but I dont want it top heavy.
