40B is so much more cooler to work with when it comes to decorating the tank with whatever- the width gives you more dimension and room.

Though 55 g is a great length for lots of streamlined fish that constantly like to swim and swim.

because obviously the OP is on a budget... i'm sure if he's looking to only spend $40 + plus tax or $55.00 plus tax on his future tank, he wouldn't want to buy a 36" light fixture for $80.00+ bulb.

common sense... no? :screwy:

Common sense maybe, but still give valid info for the OP to decide(it is his tank), not what you decide is best:duh:

lol, do you anything better to do then to argue with me about my opinion? again, let me very clear to you... if the OP came in here asking for what set up is best and had money to spend, my opinion would have been very different. but after reading a couple of the OP's recent threads, he's looking to save! so based on my opinion of what would look good on a budget, i recommended to go with the 55g...

if that isn't obvious enough to you and you want to continue this conversation, feel free to pm me, since all you are adding to this thread is clutter.

thanks!

But you lied, you gave incorrect info. You said the only lamp available for a 40g breeder is 30" long. WTF does this have anything to do with saving money. What if based on your BS the op's deciding factor was to get a 55g because of what he believes you told him about lighting. Then he finds you can get a 36" fixture with a 36" lamp and would've went with the 40b if not for your bad info. Either give complete valid info or keep your mouth shut. You want to make it sound like you stated there is no affordable lighting for a 40B unless you go with a 30" fixture. But that is not what you stated. So is it you didn't know or didn't care.

Again information is useless unless it is correct. Below is mis-information

l the 40g is 36" long, and the longest single light you can get for it is 30" meaning about 3" on each side isn't lighted as apposed to the 55g with the 48" length and 48" light.

again, thanks for adding clutter and absolutely nothing to help the OP decide between the two tanks. so again i tell you, stop being a little *****, IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE THIS CONVERSATION FEEL FREE TO PM ME!!

*gasp*

eh I would say screw 40b and 55g and go for 75g which has a nice width and length

or just plainly get a used custom-size tank... with the length and the width to make it all good :)

he was correct, your information was very misleading. I think you are the one adding all the clutter. Why not say (sorry my information was misleading) and just let it go?

Really depends on your stock choices, good luck choosing

The 40 gallon breeder is actually 44.88 US gallons when calculated by the dimensions. . personally I like the 40 gallon mainly because the 55 looks sooo thin.
