Alright so I made a much larger fish list. Give me your thoughts on it.

Tiger Barb- Puntius tetrazona
Harlequin Rasbora- Rasbora heteromorpha
Clown Loach- Botia macracanthus
Siamese Flying Fox?- Crossocheilus oblongus
Glass Catfish?- Kryptopterus minor/ Kryptopterus bicirrhis
Checkered Barb- Puntius oligolepis
Three Lined/Scissor tail Rasbora- Rasbora trilineata
Dwarf Rasbora- Boraras maculatus
Java Barb- Barbonymus gonionotus
Tinfoil Barb- Barbonymus schwanenfeldii
Pearl Danio- Danio albolineatus
Flying Fox- Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus
Mad Barb- Leptobarbus hoevenii
Giant Gourami- Osphronemus goramy
Bonylip Barb- Osteochilus vittatus
Borneo Loach- Pangio shelfordii
Blackline Barb- Puntius dorsimaculatus
Clown Barb- Puntius everetti
Fiveband Barb- Puntius pentazona
Silver Rasbora- Rasbora argyrotaenia
Rosefin Rasbora Rasbora dusonensis
Twospot Rasbora- Rasbora elegans
Clown Rasbora- Rasbora kalochroma
Yellow Rasbora- Rasbora lateristriata
Copperstripe Rasbora- Rasbora leptosoma
Chocolate Gourami- Sphaerichthys osphromenoides
Croaking Gourami- Trichopsis vittata
Barred loach- Nemacheilus fasciatus
Bala Shark- Balantiocheilus melanopterus

I think I'm going to have 2-3 different kinds of schooling fish, 1 bottom feeder, 1 algea feeder and maybe a Chocolate Gourami.

The thought out stock list is;
13 Tiger barbs
9 Harlequin Rasboras
7 Three Lined / Scissortail Rasboras
5 Clown Loaches
5 Siamese Flying Foxes (If I can't find them then I will go with Otos)
1 Chocolate Gourami

Think they will get along?

For plants I was thinking of just using Java Fern, Java Moss, Anubias, maybe two Amazon swords, and some kind of floating plant...any ideas? What about duckweed? Should I bother with fertilizers or do you think they can make it without them?

I still think the glass catfish are better off without the tiger barbs and clown loaches harassing them. Sorry. Sid is short for the name Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki. They're also called monkey loach or dwarf chain loach. Replace your clowns with sids.

Chocolate gouramis are best kept in species tank.;) These are finicky timid fish that will never show up in a tank full of boisterous tankmates. A tank heavily loaded with tannins, leaf litter and driftwoods along with several low lighting plants make a good home for choccies. They prefer to be kept on their own in 6 or more in number. pH should not be too high as they prefer acidic waters and become vulnerable to bacterial infections if kept in conditions not to their preference. These are not the fish for your tank.

Like I said earlier, replac your clowns with the sids. And don't confuse the Siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis) with the flying foxes (Epalzeorhychus kallopterus). Flying foxes are more quarrelsome towards each other than the actual SAE.

As for your plants, ferts are not necessary. It's up to you if you want to use ferts or not. If I were you, keep away from duckweeds unless you want your tank to be overrun with these pests. Try the Nymphaea lotus. Just trim out the leaves that reach the surface before it covers the whole tank. They are red to green and look quite pretty in a tank full of green plants as they stand out. They are undemanding. The bulbs tend to become dormant from time to time so be patient if the bulb does not produce new plantlets for the time being.

The tiger barbs will nip at your glass cats, and glass cats aren't the most nip proof of fish. I think you should plan on fish that you can house for life rather rotate out. The loaches above are great substitutes for the clowns.

I'll stay away from the gourami then, thanks for the tip! *sigh*.. I love the look of clowns though :( lol Whats the harm in just keeping 5 and when they start to get large just trade them in and pick up 5 smaller ones? I don't plan on keeping them until there big, I personally don't like how they look by the time there large because they lose their cute colouring. Sorry if that comes off rude but I'm just being honest.

I don't plan on getting glass catfish, they were just on my list of fish from Sumatra ;)

You could try that. Do you know who will take away your clowns? Heck, the demand for large clowns is often very wide anyway.;) Look for other options first before you decide. Here's the list:
Botia striata
Botia histrionica
Botia dario
Botia rostrata
Botia kubotai
Botia almorhae
Yasuhikotakia nigrolineatus

I was thinking the same thing with the clowns, I know a ton of people on here have them and love getting larger ones so I may as well be the "grow out" lol I plan on trading them in at a local Big Als, they take fish in for credit so why not use the credit for 5 other clowns?

I might even just do a big *** school of Tiger Barbs and have 5 Clowns. Like maybe 10 Normals, 10 Albinos and possibly 10 Green; I've never really cared for Greens though. It would look neat though, I wonder if the different colours would swim in sepperate schools. They could be there own little gangs with drive by killings and everything. I can see it now on there little tv's " Frank Barb found on filter intake, rescue teams took hours trying to get him off but all attempts failed" Yeah you don't need to say anything, I know :screwy:

Ohhhh I hate these hobbies sometimes, theres to many choices when it comes to stocking tanks. I think I might just walk into the store and buy whatever I like there and that will be my stocking lol It would be so much simpler.

ahahaha Lupin you seem to be really pushing for him to take ANYTHING but clown loaches eh, anyways I agree with ya...besides, I think alot of the loaches Lupin gave in the last post look better than clowns anyways, plus you won't have to worry about finding them a new home when they mature.

Also, The large school of multi coloured barbs should look awesome. :D

20. More than that looks too overcrowded.
