i would do 3 firemouths or a gold severum pair

I would reccommend NOT getting a pair of anything with the bichir in there. You just don't have enough real estate in a 55g and they could easily peck his eyes out defending their fry. I would stick with a single specimen like the GT or something that doesn't get too big. A female Festae or a female Salvini would be a nice colorful fish.

1 gt or 1 jd would be fine but i would not do both.

however i think 2 gold or green sevs would be a better choice.

anyway what bichir is it?
check my sig ;)

Im leaning towards one of something because like you guys have been saying im a little worried for the aggression issues. Now which 1 of what? Like i said i would like something colourful with lots of personality. I thinking a JD might be it but ideas are welcome :D

IMHO a GT would be a better choice than a JD because they're more owner interactive and are a prettier showpiece. Also, until JD's get some decent size on them they usually hide all the time IME.

Exactly how big do both fish get to be around? The GT's are nice but i really like the colour on the JD's they look amazing to me, the shiny gold and green. The GT's are beautiful as well though, that amazing blue mask and the orange tips around the fins. Its a hard call for either of them also would i be able to add anything else to the tank with the GT or JD ? Like say the shoal of silver dollars? They look like nice like schooler fish and could be good dithers.

I think it is a good choice to go with just 1 cichlid. To me, the looks of a Goldsaum beat the looks of a JD hands-down. That is just my opinion though. Get whatever floats your boat. Goldsaums also have great personalities. Silver Dollars get kinda big. I know Redhooks get 6 inches, but I am not sure how big the other ones get. Also, my Silver Dollars are pigs and messy eaters. If you want some dithers, I would get something smaller that would effect your bioload less. Get some large tetras or rainbows.

I have both GTs and JDs. I recommend the GTs. They start coloring up much nicer, even when they are young. For dithers maybe some Tiger Barbs or Giant Danios? Why not get a few EBJDs if they are available in your area? You won't be disappointed!

Oh an also, I'd recommend getting a few small ones of whatever you choose, then as they mature pick which one you like best and return/sell the others.

EBJD are very beautiful and i would love one but there 80 bucks a piece here and thats a bit to much for me, and ive read they get diseases easier and are die off alot easier then a regular JD and im not willing to risk 80 bucks on it. They only have a 5 day return police at the store that has them. I dont know, theres something about that bump that the GT's get that just look really ugly to me, do they get this alot? Is it a good/bad thing to have?

the gt willnot get one if its alone, i would go for a nice male jack dempsey- they have cool patterns and colours. or you could go for: hrp pair+others like danios, sajica pair, single grammode, green texas, tho. mixteco blues. personly i wouldgo for the JD or a community like a male sajica, male JD, male con....something on the lines of that:) gl

I am pretty sure the males get it as they mature. I think it looks good, not every fish gets them. I think the females don't get it, but they don't also get as strong of coloring. But if I'm wrong, someone will tell you the real truth

The EBJDs are more sensitive than most others. Got any pics of your delhezi?
