Lose the 2 bp's, and the jd, add 1 more convict(make sure you get 3 males or females). I say 3 convicts, so they will be used as dithers, that way you have a chance at keeping the gt and cuban together. They have to be the same sex, so that they don't spawn(a spawning pair of cons can be very dangerous). Just make sure you have good filtration system running, and do weekly or more wc's.

You will probably still eventually have to upgrade, or lose one of the bigger cichlids. A 75 would probably be more efficient.

I agree, this is probably Your best chance.Only problem is if the cuban is male & once they get some size on them, he may take the rest out.

I wouldn't even recommend anyone keep a single GT in a 55G. Give them a 5 foot aquarium at least.

Stick with Firemouth/T-Bars/Rainbows/Convicts or similarly sized Central Americans.
i agree

You can probably get away with a single GT in a 55, but it will be pushing it and you're going to have to do a lot of W/C's, and no tankmates with him. The GT is probably the biggest problem on the list because of this.

Trouble with stocking numerous aggressive species like GT's, or even a Cuban really, in a 55 is that they get to a decent size and end up requiring the whole tank.

I used to keep a FM, BP and JD in the same tank with a Featherfin Cat, and that was about all you could stick in the tank. I understand why you don't want to immediately take everyone's advice, because if you do, your tank will look like every single other tank on this website. But you still need to be aware of your tank's limitations.

I just looked at your stocklist and I noticed you have 2 JD's in your 55, I thought that ONE JD was pushing it, but you have two and you're telling me that ONE GT is pushing it?:screwy:

I don't know why you're trying to make fun of me when I was trying to help you...

But if you will notice I have had either 1 BP, 1 JD, 1 FM with a cat in the 55 or 2 JD's, 1 fm, 1 cat.

JD's are nowhere near as large, even though many say they get 12 inches, you rarely see them get past 9 or 10 due to their gene pool being so shallow. GT's on the other hand definitely hit the 12 inch mark often, and are substantially more aggressive on average than JD's. Keeping a breeding pair of JD in a 55 is fairly realistic, keeping a breeding pair of GT's in a 55 will leave you with one GT eventually.

ya take it easy there, one gt is way bigger than a JD, They seem to slow way down on growth when around 5"or 6". Green terror are far more aggressive than a Jack.
I personally haven't had any luck with cons, i had a pair in my 100g and they beat the snot out of every one, so i removed the female and the male still beat the snot out of everyone.

IN a 55g, Maybe try this, i find good luck with firemouths and jacks for some reason.
1) regular jack
1) firemouth
1) male convict

This could work depending on the male conicts aggression.

Yea funny that you don't care if JTRG05 has two JD's in a 55g but when I ask if two would be good in a 55g I get flamed terribly, That's pretty hyprocritic good job guys.

You get flamed terribly because you boast one of the most incredibly overstocked list of fish in your signature and consistently ignore any and all efforts by anyone on this forum to try and help you.

I think you get flamed because you habitually make the same mistakes but expect different results for your tanks and reactions from your threads. Eventually JTR will probably have to upgrade tanks. JDs grow slower than GTs and are far less aggressive too. I'm not dogging you, man. I know how hard it is to bypass a nice fish. There are plenty of fish that I would love to have but I can't because of current stocking and inadequate space. I think that you have some really cool fish in your stock list (minus the 2 Pacu). You can focus on them, grow them out and enjoy some fine specimens. Get a couple of large tanks and have fun keeping the fish that you currently have. Good luck!
