yep you can use a 3drawer unit for a drip tray wet.dry unit yes... check out more video's of joey's he has a video for using a 3 drawer wet/dry unit he has a ton of video with LOADS of great info for stuff like this ... let us know how ya make out and what ya do :)

you could use 2 drawer unit one per drain yes but you would likely need a long sump for that tho, one on each end of the sump then over flow into the centre where the return pump would be or something, but you shoul dbe just fine with one drawer wet/dry with two pipes in it i would think plus it super easy to change or filter pads or clean them from there slide open the drawer replace or 2 mins cleaning and your done

By sump do you mean the glass tank it sits in and what would you sugest as a bottom tank. This was I was thinking I make two of those towers and put both in the 55g (one on each end. that leaves the middle for heater and pump) and have one pump that pumps it back to both tanks.

yes you could put two of the towers in a 55g IF they fit, i dont know if they will or not tho.... and what do you mean a pump to pump it back up to 2 tanks ? you plan on plumbing this sump to run both you 400g and 300g tank ? if so your going to need a MUCH larger sump then 55g... rule of thumb is 25% MIN of your display tank.. but i think you seem confused on alot of this sump talk maybe do some more research and watch some more youtube videos for some good ideas
