Lets see, a koi grows to a potential length of 3 feet. For a rule of thumb, thats means 1,000G's of pond space per fully grown koi. Koi AND Goldfish are coldwater fish and do best when kept in the mid 60's. Koi are very messy tank fish and arent suited for a glass box.CoryWM;1506257; said:I setup a new 55g, with fluval fx5, tetra whisper air pump rated for 100g, two outlets. What I want to know is. Can I house these 5 fish together? I know they will grow, and I'll end up buying a bigger tank. I'm thinking after a year or so, I'll upgrade to 210g.
So my next question, is my pleco gonna terrorize the black moor gold fish, because of the slime coat?
I heard that, keeping a goldfish with koi is a bad idea, due to their hormones that they release, stunting the koi growth. Unbacked rumor? or truth? Couldnt find anything about it online.
Also what filter media would you run for the koi?
My aim is to get one platinum white, 1 solid black, and one solid gold/yellow metallic. 1 Black moor, and a spotted pleco.
Platinum white = Platinum Ogon Koi, about 3"
Solid Black = Solid Black Koi, 3.5" to 4"
Gold = Gold Ogon Koi, about 3"
Is there a subtype for the black koi?
Thanks for the input.
Mixing coldwater and warmwater fish isnt a good start.
