For me, I would go female festae, Vieja Argentea, or the Mota idea.

I agree very much. When I think of wet pet I think of oscars. But really now....I think 55 gallons is a bit to small for oscars, despite what many people say. It isn't enough space for them to turn around.

I don't know. It's not like their tales are brittle, they can turn around easily. I think Oscars can thrive in a 55 gallon. I kept one of almost 14 inches in a 55 for quite a while and he was fine. I would of course recommend a 75, but if someone wants to keep one in a 55 for life, it's not terrible. It is certainly much better than those who cram them in 29 gallons.

if you can eventually upgrade get a black nasty, they grow slow but to me are a great wet pet very owner responsive in the most aggresive way possible lol

personally i think RD's midas FH and most other fish are more comfortable with an 18" ftprint

i would suggest maybe a severum, festivum/acara, maybe some corys and buenos aires/ red eye tetras to give it a nice SA theme but if your not into the whole biotope thing i would just go with a salvini
