55gal Stand and tank build

Just because a fish in your stock has flared, long fins doesn't make the other fish turn into nippers. I've seen angel fish in tanks with Arowana with no problems. In this scenario you just need to make sure whatever you stock with the angel is not known to nip at fins. In this case I don't believe african cichlids are known for nipping, but again, I don't have much experience with them.

Don't forget Angel fish are also a cichlid and can be semi aggressive themselfs. ;)

As for the clown loaches id say do at least 5 of them if you can, and if you will be able to get a bigger tank in a year or two for them.

Mbuna you could probably do around 10, they max out about 4-5 inches. The mroe you have the less agression will be spotted on a single fish.

Mbuna are very agressive but usually only with their own kind. I would say you would be fine sticking the angel in there for now, but if you see his fins getting nibbed i would move it back because eventually they might kill it.

10 full grown Mbuna might be alot for that tank but IME they take a long time to grow once they reach 2.5-3 inches or so. I would be saving up money for a 125 so you could later on house all of these fish comfortably

And if you are looking for good deals on the Clown Loach snookn21 has 4 for 32.00 on aquabid right now, and he's also in the mfk marketplace vendors section.

I'm actually scoring a pack of 4 myself from him this week.

How big are they, mine is a 2-3 in and i got em for $6.88. Does he breed them or catch them because i heard that they were really hard to breed.

I'd say they are 1.5"-2" and I have no idea if he breeds them himself but you could always ask him. 6.88 is a good deal on 3" clown loach. Is that at a lfs? Is it a chain store?

A steal indeed. Yeah, my Oscar has tried to make them lunch a few times now but holy lord they are fast. I left them in and added some pvc because I'm quite confident there is no way Rocky can catch them.

Bro same here!

I have about a 3.5-4" oscar and 2 clowns and 4 yoyo's. They are all around 2 inches and when i was introducing the yoyo's last week by floating the bag the oscar would come up to them and try and nib them through the bag!

When i put them in i swear he would have at least ate 1. Now,1 week later they get along fine and he doesnt mind them, the loaches have gotten so comfortable that they even go up to "suck" on him :D.

They are FAST

Crazy, lol. I'm glad my loachs don't have the comfort to go up to Rocky because that's how fish get eaten! Lol. Also on a side note I hope they aren't actually sucking on the O because it can remove his slime coat and end up hurting him. I've read about bottom feeders doing this before, particularly Chinese Algae Eaters.

I probably measured my clown loach wrong. Lol. Do u include the tail? This pet store has overpriced everything else so it prob wasn't a good deal. Might have been tho. I will measure him tommorow. Quick question. Are small African Cichlids fine with medium sized ones. My 3 are all about 1-1.5 inches right now and if I get some 2.5-3inchers will there be a definite problem? And don't just tell me to get ones that are the same size. I want a yes or no with an explination please. Thanks
