Dont forget besides peacock bass, you can find oscars, firemouth, midas, tilapia, various africans and a ton of other released tropical fish.
I just got back from homestead, Florida.
I'm really considering getting a job down there and moving.
early retirement!!!

Homestead has nice herps and user friendly not marsh like Glades . Did you go herping?

I go by Glades outskirts now and than and though have seen lots snakes ,etc have not caught a thing other than 1 scarlet snake and lots tiny half dollar size turtles .

I dont keep them .

No i just went to fish farms in the areas.
i don't know much about snakes.
my friend used to have about 100 king/milk/corn snakes.
pretty cool colors.
i like them kind of snakes, not really into them huge boas and pythons.
i like dart frogs too.
never had anything other then bullfrogs i caught, stuff like that.

personally the snakes didn't bug me when I heard about the burms and others.. but monitors.. now those lil' buggers are not only nasty mean, but smart. waters aren't as bad as niles but both get big enough you don't want to tangle with them. I'll take on a 18' burn over a 6' monitor anyday. not to mention they have a taste for eggs. bad news for florida.

Your right and I wont say all exotics are harmless . IMO this is the real threat to Floridas natives.

I went fishing today for an hour than drove to a place I havent been to in a year. It was LOADED with musk turtles and kingsnakes last time I was there .Lush green forest with several ponds .

No monitor or Python can do the damage these bulldozers do and Florida is being devoured by them and Floridas politicians/news dont want to see this its easier/pc to blame non natives.

Louie...i agree.

Its funny the way zoning laws are...you can't locate a liquor store next to a school but an industrial site or development can be located on a watercourse or wetlands. The pollution from runoff is intangible i guess?
