hmm yeah, so how would a blue acara, bichir and a sun catfish work? Plus a handful of giant danios. Would all those guys get along? Any other suggestions??

Well Sun Cats Hide all the time when the lights are on and eat all small fish when they are off. Sun Cats grow up to 12" and my 5'' ate my 2'' Mbuna Cichlid. So I would'nt go with Sun Cats. I have a pair myself and they are always hiding!

I would vote two blue acaras, two same sex convicts (girls maybe), and a raphael catfish. Giant danios or rainbowfish for dithers.

Sun Cats do hide a lot! I bought one at just a few inches. I didn't notice it in the tank after a few days and just considered it taken as food by the bigger fish. Months went buy without a sight of the Sun Cat. Then one night during a hurricane and power outage, my family was sitting in the living room under candlelight. That's when I noticed this big, strange fish poking its head out of a hallow tree ornament. The Sun Cat was nipping at all of the other fish. The sight of the big cat explained some other fish that had disappeared from my tank. It was cool to see that it had survived and grown immensely but not cool to see it trying to eat my other fish. I gave it to my friend and he threw it in his pond with his other cats.

so raphs and sun cats hide all the time huh? I think a little gang of pictus cats would be pretty cool. They would add some nice movement to the bottom of the tank. Then a bichir, and a blue acara. If i got a green terror instead of an accara and let him grow up in there...then moved him out when he got too big would that be fine?

i thought serpaes were too small..? Could i do a little school of tiger barbs or would they nip fins too much. Remember I have a birchir to deal with too..

I use tiger barbs as dither fish in most of my tanks. They stand up for themselves, and they seem to have enough sense to not fin-nip cichlids.

My large Palmas Polli and Delhezi ate the serpaes, my Sen keeps to itself. But my buddy said hes Sen destroys everything so it depends on the fish

Hmm..alright then. I'll try and find big tiger barbs, big pictus cats, and a smallish terror and bichir. This should work. Now for that stupid tank to cycle...
