Good morning. In my quest to find nice stocking for a 250L tank I am getting in less than a month and I don't think an African oddball tank would work for me.

So I have decided to look into discus and some other things.
The tank is a 4ft 250L long tank that will have a double DIY canister fipter.
Water changes will be 10-15% a week

Would this stocking work:
-2 pairs of discus
-5 marbled hatchetfish
-4 synodontis upside down catfish
- 2 kribensis cichlids
-12 tetras (rummynose) or 6 Congo tetras

Can this work?

If you truly want discus, then 2 discus and about a dozen small tetras should be all you should be keeping in that 60gal. Forget any syn cats, as they grow big and can be very mean. Another problem would be that 2 discus can result in one discus getting picked up relentlessly.
You didn't mention plants in that tank, but I hope there will be plenty, if you're only considering 10%-15% w/c per week

I said 2 pairs =P
Also synodontis nigriventis only get 12cm
I will plant the tank heavily so I can keep nitrates low
=)

I understood what you posted.
2 pairs = 4 discus
I'm recommending no more than 2 individual discus for that 60gal......or 1 pair

Oh OK.
In that case I just don't know, are there replacements for discus?

Angels are hard to get here. And when you do they are not good =/.

Its easier for you to get discus than angelfish?

Well sort of. Angels are more common but in very poor condition.

Maybe boesmani rainbow fish?
