600 Gallon All Glass Tank....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sweet really anxious to see what the final touch up with water and your fishes in their would look like! =D

Also tested how the pond liner might perform. I cut a small piece (Firestone Pondguard .45 mil) and siliconed (GE Silicone I) to a piece of tempered glass. After an hour, i had to give the liner a good pull to try and seperate it. Looks like it wil set nice Chompers. (You suggested this idea a year ago...should have listened to you!)

Hmm...can't insert the picture. I PUT A CRACK IN ONE OF THE BOTTOM PANELS!:cry::cry::cry::cry: AND I WASN'T DRINKING!!!!!!!!!:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

I have some 1/2" glass left over from the sumps that I took apart...if I put this over the crack, will it help keep the stress off? (Remember, I'm puttin pond liner in the bottom.)

Serious bummer, dude. That's a tough call though. Its a gamble, no matter what. You gotta weigh the cost of time and materials to fix it, plus add the cost of damage and headache if it does fail versus the cost of making a fix you feel confident about.

IMO-- a cracked bottom with that much weight even patched with more panes of glass would be a constant source of worry. Failure would seem like an eventuality.

Personally, as much as I don't care for the staff at Glasscages.com, at least they should be some what of an authority on something like that. I'll wager they've dealt with glass aquarium repairs before and could provide some decent info.

If it is unsalvagable then it's such a shame. I know it would be a huge pain but the tank could be so nice, is it worth a new panel then a reseal ?
