Just read this thread, awesome tank!!! I can't wait to see it stocked! Good luck with the silicon!
Yeah no big deal. Most likely you just need to trim back the bad silicon, basically clean up the leaking edge, don't remove the whole piece of glass. Then run a bead of new silicon just to seal it. It wont be a structural seal just a waterproof seal.
You may want to wait a day or so after removing the old silicon to let the leaking water area dry out. Then run your bead of new silicon and let dry for a couple more days.

I wouldn't. Maybe redoing the silicon around the entire window on the inside could work, but taking it out and redoing it over is your best bet. Doing just a patch is asking for trouble. It would probably last just long enough for you to get the tank established.
Take advantage of the empty tank and redo it completely so you won't be worrying about it later.

Realistically this is easier said than done but it's worth a try. I have removed 2X4' pieces of 1/2" glass and that was a pain in the ***. I would suggest if you plan on removing the glass start your removal project on the leaking part, and work your way from there. Then maybe after a while the plan might change, hopefully before the glass breaks.
If you do get the glass out you might want to look into some kind of spacers between the glass and what ever it's getting glued to. The spacers I use are tiny little door bumpers you would use on cabinet doors to keep them from banging shut. These wont allow the glass to compress against your other surface allowing the silicon to maintain it's form and keep the water in the tank. Just some thoughts.........

Thank you all, i have been pretty busy in the holidays, next year the work on the tank will continue.
right now I dont have too much energy, because all my tetras of my planted tank started to die this week, searching and removing dead fish on a tank really get you down...
