Thank u. I have a jebao 20000 so with 6 feet of head and 3/4 returns I am hoping for 2000- 2200 GPH and yes for now if I need to add more I have an FX6 I can put on too. That will be on the tank only for cycling. I have had that on my other tank that is going to come down. I started out with a 400 gallon tank and ended up with a 600 gallon tank. I know 3.8 to 4 times turnover is on the low side but I am hoping with over 400 pounds of rock, an algae scrubber made with a 20 gallon acrylic tank, and the biggest denitrate filter I have ever seen anyone make. It is going to be an 8 round inch pvc and about 5.5 to 6 feet tall. I have Marine Pure blocks, and some of the other blocks that a company that make blocks like MP. I have used the MP balls and they worked amazing I dubbled the time between water changes on my other tank. plus I have a full C2C so I have my fingers crossed. I want a bigger sump that is only a 80 gallon frag tank that I have had for years. I would like to go to a 125 ,150 or 180 but my stand is low because I had to be able to fit it through my doors so it is only 30 high so I do not have a lot of height to work with. I dont know if this will even hold all the water in a power outage. I can buy a 125 with stand and everything from petsmart for $425 so we will see.
I know what you mean. Ive built my latest stand at 34.5" and that barely allows room to work in the 20" tall sumps. You could consider running a couple sumps if you wanted. It looks like you could fit another one of those 80s under that stand.

That was going to be my 1st plan I bought glass cutting hole saw bit and I was going to just put A bulkhead and A PVC pipe in and run it to another Tank or container next to it I'm more worried about the water draining back in after a power outage. If I Remember correctly one inch of water is something like 20 gallons. That's a lot.

Looking good I like the C2C.

Short of not knowing what you'll have and your husbandry habits I think biologically filtration should be good. Dedicated bio filtration aside you will have all that substrate and rock. I'm using marine pure blocks too. My tank has been running for about 3 months and I've been keeping an eye on how often I need to replace sump socks and mechanical filtration and keeping nitrates in check. I think the BB are going to colonize on hiw much they have to consume anyway and media becomes less of an issue.

You probably know this, but it's not just power outage, and the return pumps will be off here and there so make sure your sump can accommodate water backflow from hour weir height, level of your lowest drain and return back siphon. I would also consider adding true union check valve.

Where are you installing the gate and ball valves for drain?

Yes when I say power outage I just mean when no power going to the Pump. And I think everybody should use a check valve I really like the one in this picture that I have

Here is a picture of the ball valves for the drains. Also I have a 55 gallon with an Oscar and a plaque in it, I would Clean my filter every 2 weeks do water changes in I always had a hard time keeping the nitrates down as soon as I put the Marine pure Spears in I was able to go well over a month with nothing else that changed not my feeding habits temperature nothing. I know a lot of people have mixed reviews about those things but I absolutely love them

I think the 80 should be fine. Its a 48x24x16 right? So with 20 gallons to spare you could still run it at 12" depth with no worries especially since youre using the checks on the returns.

Yea that the size and that's pretty good I set the height at about 11 1/2. I have had Numerous fish tanks from 180 to 30 gallons but I have never ran a sump so i am only Going on stuff I read online.

Ok here are some Pictures of the support I put up down in my basement to hold the extra weight the beems is a w4x13 one is 60 inchs the other one is 80 The only reason they're 2 different sizes is I got a really good deal on them. Please don't mind the clutter in the background my house dose not usually look like this but I am also in the process of removing a load bearing wall and putting up a steel beam, Well it is up and now I am painting, Putting new floors in and redoing a bathroom, all on top of setting this tank up and I have a 5 year old and a 16 month old, too lol so there is just a lot going on. Guess that is why I am up till 2 am every night

Yeah, I like the marine blocks for the ease of placing and the surface space of course. The mixed reviews is primarily for their ability to house anaerobic bateria.

Looks like youve got a good grip on it. I've done sumps with a single pump before and always worked fine. Consider running two pumps or even two sumps for redundancy and efficiency if you find yourself having trouble with flow or pump reliability.

Im gonna be running two jebao 10000 on my new 400g build which are about equivalent to your 20000. Everybodys telling me my rig is underpowered lol.
